Q1: What plotters can I use this Online Dryer for?
A1: The Online Dryer can be mounted directly on the printer and fits perfectly Roland PRO II EX and SP300 series, Mutoh Rockhopper II, Falcon and Toucan series. Different widths are available from 80 cm to 226 cm.
Q2: Why using bottom up heating? Is it not better to apply heat from the top?
A2: No, bottom up heating has the important advantage that the media top layer stays open while drying. When applying heat at the top, the top layer is rapidly drying and it may create a shield for the moisture inside. Bottom up heating does not create this effect.
Q3: Why need an extra dryer if there is already one in the SolventJet Rockhopper and others?
A3: The heating strips on these plotters are designed to make the vinyl accept the ink better. The strips are narrow and when printing at higher speed ( 540 dpi ) or on heavier materials ( banner ) the output is not dry when touching the ground. The faces will stick together.
Q4: Will all media dry on the Online Dryer?
A4: Most media will become dryer. It is the simple law of physics that fluids evaporate more at higher temperature. However external conditions may influence the drying: overall temperature, humidity of the air, pigment or dye ink. In any case, oil based ink will dry very little.
Q5: Solvent printing
A5: The solvent inks make up a big part of the ink ( up to 93 % ). These solvents are proven to attack the adhesive layer, causing a severe loss in adhesive power. Vinyl manufacturers advise to evacuate the solvents as soon as possible. Thanks to the Online Dryer with bottom up heating, solvents evaporate quickly.
Q6: Screen printing film
A6: Inkjet printing is used more and more for the production of screen printing films. As these films require high densities ( D2.7 upwards ) the black regions are flooded with ink. In order to protect them from sticking together or to prevent them to adhere dust it is advisable to dry the film as soon as it comes out of the printer.
Q7:Automatic take up device
A7: When a take up device is installed on the large format printer one must be sure that the media is absolute dry before it touches the roller. The Online Dryer is a perfect tool to ensure this. Potential market Online Dryer
According to our experiences and in consequence of the facts mentioned above, about 65 % of the large format printers need an extra heating system. The Online Dryer is fully certified according to European and US standards.
